Our First Five Days in the House

How time flies? Without much fanfare, we have moved into the house for five days already.

In these few days, we have managed to get most of the essential stuff in order. The only thing missing at the moment is the washing machine. But that should come in either today or tomorrow.

The big issue now is getting our container delivered before Christmas. However, the transport guy refuses to return our calls. And the other big issue is our Internet access. Still waiting for the modem to be delivered.

So, everything’s more or less settled down. All I need to do now is find work.

Our Week in Adelaide

We just spent our first week in Adelaide.

Things are okay so far though we are having a little difficulty in locating a place to rent that takes pets. We put in an application for a really nice place last Friday and hopefully the agent would get back to us with a positive answer.

As for me, I’m actively looking for work and hope there would some interviews soon.

So, for those who are reading this and are friends, do leave a comment or drop me an email via the contact form.

UPDATE: On the same evening, the agent called to say that our application has been successful. Will be the signing the lease on Wednesday.

Do You Know What Song Was #1 On The Day You Were Born?

Well, I obviously didn’t know and didn’t care about that at all until I saw this wonderful resource called The #1 Song on this Date in History. The database is based on the #1 song in the USA according to the Billboard magazine.

The database is really simple to use and I had a great time looking up songs that were #1 for other people’s birthdays and other occasions. And the database goes as far back as the 1890s and I’m sure everyone of your family and friends will be covered. :) What’s wonderful too is that it links you to the US iTunes store if you so inclined into getting a copy of the song that was associated with you.

For the record, the #1 song on the day I was born was “The Way We Were” by Barbra Streisand. And appropriately for my wedding day, it was “Let Me Love You” by Mario. On the day that Matthew was born, Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” was #1.

Dog Owners Lead Healthier Lives

According to some research published recently, having a dog as a pet makes the owner that bit much more healthier than say a cat owner as reported in BBC News.

The research shows that dog owners tend to have lower blood pressure and cholesterol. They also have lower incidences of minor ailments and serious illness. Even if they do, dogs could aid their recovery. Dogs can act as ‘early warning’ in detecting the onset of an epileptic seizure as well. However, the precise reason why owning a dog is good for your health is not known, it is most probably due to the interaction with the dog as well as the opportunities to meet other people when you take your dog out for a walk.

Guess we have to take Jeremiah (our dog) out for walks a little more often to increase our health well-being.
