An interesting article about whether you should just quit your job and follow your own path and becoming anti-establishment. One of the cases is on a CEO of a large real estate company in the US who quit his job so that he can work on rebuilding his relationship with his estranged wife. How many Singaporeans would do that? I know of friends who really work too much for their own good. I really wonder why they spend so much on their houses and cars when they hardly spend any time in either. For myself, I’ve been really thinking about making a job change or even a life change. But like what the article says, I’m afraid … afraid of the bills, baby coming and personal doubts. I just need to psyche myself and justify it before I can make ‘the great leap forward’.

Took all of 4 days for us to look for and purchase our dream flat. As of now, I can barely believe it myself.

Just two hours ago, we signed an “option to purchase” for a wonderful flat that’s totally done up and has no main need for us to do more. Think with just a fresh coat of paint and a change of the toilet seats and we’re able to move in. Of course, we’ll need to buy ourselves a bed as well as all the essential electrical appliances that makes modern living possible, such as microwave oven, fridge, TV, DVD player, sound system, etc. But we don’t have to exactly think about those until about 2-3 months down the road as it would take that long for the whole process of getting a HDB flat to happen.

Am still very overwhelmed with this huge step that we’ve taken. It’s a huge financial decision both of us had to make as it would tie us down for quite a number of years. Think I will hardly be able to sleep tonight.

Just came back from Perth, Australia. Touched down at about 9.30pm last nite. Wasn’t a smooth flight home. Was hit constantly by turbulence. And the pilot wasn’t that skilled as we bumped and swerved when the plane touched down.

It was a very relaxing trip Down Under though. We just rest and relaxed at home on most days. Watching “Ricki Lane”, “Jerry Springer”, “Big Brother”, “Restaurant Rules” and “Deal or No Deal”. We did manage to do some shopping and sightseeing. We went to Perth City and visited the library. And, of course, shopping as well. We visited Murdoch about 3 times during our 2 weeks there. Went grocery shopping at Armadale Shopping Centre. Fed wild kangaroos in the backyard (and there were about 40-50 of them).

The most memorable trip was to the Lake Cave down south. Magnificent views underground, though the climb back up was torturous … all 300-over steps. The other highlight was buying our wedding bands from Rosendorf at Westfield Shopping Centre (a really huge shopping centre … even bigger than our Suntec City).

All in all, it was a relaxing trip to re-charge our batteries. Photos will arrive shortly when I’ve got time to sort through them.
